WELCOME TO PLANET HOPE
In 1992, on the studio lot at Paramount Pictures, two sisters, Sharon and Kelly Stone, came together to create Planet Hope. Inspired by an accident that left Kelly physically impaired for years, the sisters recognized the importance of having Hope in one's life. It is from this shared family experience that Planet Hope was born.
Planet Hope has helped tons of thousands of families from around the world. Planet Hope programs have been able to offer gratis medical and dental care, new clothes for kids, counseling and image makeovers for homeless women and women that have been victims of domestic violence at our annual summer camp. Planet Hope's mission of providing hope for a better life has made a tremendous difference to thousands of homeless and abused children and their families.
SHARON STONE AND KELLY STONE HOST THE "CLASS OF HOPE PROM 2007" CHARITY BENEFIT
The evening is a chance for grown-ups to take a walk down memory lane and revisit their prom while raising money for a worthy cause. As prom fees have become cost prohibitive for under-privileged high school students, Planet Hope creates a star-studded evening to help raise “Prom Admittance Grants”.
Join in the effort in making high school students’ Prom dreams become reality…
HOMELESS NOT TOOTHLESS
Planet Hope has teamed up with Dr. Jay Grossman of "Homeless Not Toothless" to ensure all their clients have proper dental care. Based on check ups rendered at Camp Planet Hope, these children and their families will be given the necessary treatments to better perfect their smiles. Hundreds of homeless men, women, and children are benefitting from this program. Because of this, YOUR DONATION IS VITAL TODAY! Please contact Planet Hope on ways YOU can help!
PLANET HOPE PROGRAMS
Field Trips & Family Outings
Planet Hope hosts homeless and abused children and their families on our many field trips. They experience joy and learning from attending museums, zoos, them parks, movies and sporting events, including L.A. Dodgers' baseball games. Weekend outing include both parents and children, giving them an opportunity to retreat from their lives in the shelters.
Camp Planet Hope
Camp gives kids the chance to experience a traditional summer camp full of swimming, arts and crafts, sports and campfire stories, as well as much needed medical & dental care. Moms are provided with programs designed to help their self esteem, including one-on-one sessions with counselors, as well as learning about childcare opportunities, housing and employment opportunities. Moms also have a "beauty day" of makeovers, massages, and special services contributed by makeup artists and hair stylists. All of the children and their families leave camp happy and hopeful with backpacks filled to the rim with back to school clothes and new sneakers.
Emergency Referral Programs
Planet Hope provides constant information and referrals for individuals and families that find themselves in hopeless situations. Planet Hope refers families to local shelters, food banks, medical facilities and counseling centers.
Food and Warmth Resources
Planet Hope is a contributing sponsor to a bi-weekly program to provide hot meals throughout the year to individuals living on our streets. In addition, over 2000 sleeping bags, socks, and water are distributed to homeless and abused men, women and children living on the streets each Christmas Eve.
Hope for the Holidays
We have helped to provide Valentine's Day treats, Easter Basket, Halloween festivities, and Thanksgiving dinner for thousands of homeless and abused families each year. At Christmas time, hundreds of children from shelters, safe-houses and hospitals receive a hand picked toy (from over 4000 that have been donated by Mattel Toys, Hasbro, Jakks Pacific, Gifts In Kind, Paul Goldenburg and other generous vendors).
